Interclub
Southland-wide competitive teams league
This event is run by Squash Southland and is a Southland Wide competition. You will have home and away games and get the chance to play other clubs around the district at their venues also. Squash City (Club Captain) will put players into team’s and this is sent to Squash Southland which they then allocate into Divisions on total grading points for that team and put a draw together which when ready is published in I-Squash. This is an event generally for the more competitive player and everyone who enters has to be a fully paid-up member and on the Squash NZ Grading list. The other stipulation to play this you have to have passed a Referee Exam which isn’t that bad, and the club will always guide and assist any new players through this. This exam has to be repeated every 2 years. Squash Southland through Club representatives from around the district set the rules each year but don’t generally vary too much. This event runs (depending on Division you are in) from approximately late March through to late August each year.
There is also a Tuesday night Women’s interclub which is run the same way and all female members are more than welcome to enter in both. Again this is Southland Wide event so travel is involved.
